MATHEA HOUSE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
STANDARD CANCELLATIONS BY GUEST:
Travelers who cancel at least 7 days before check in will get back 100% of the amount they have paid. If cancelling closer than 7 days before check in, a 50% refund will be provided. To discuss this please email info@matheahouse.co.nz
CANCELLATIONS BY MATHEA HOUSE:
All bookings are subject to cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances including the sale of the property, long-term letting or other events outside our control. Any existing deposit or payment will be refunded in full.
Mathea House reserves the right to cancel a booking where it believes the terms of stay may be breached or where payment terms have not been met by the guest. Standard cancellation terms will apply in regard to any deposits or payments received.
Mathea House reserves the right to evict the guest (s) in the event that the terms and conditions of accommodation are breached. No compensation will be due and guests remain liable for breakages, emergency cleaning (if required) and any additional cleaning charges (if required)
Guests are responsible for leaving the property, furnishings, fixtures, appliances, fittings and grounds in the condition found on arrival and if the property, furnishings, fixtures, appliances, fittings and grounds are damaged in any way (beyond any normal wear & tear) Mathea house reserves the right to notify the Guest (s) and on-charge the Guest for the restoration of any damage. Agreement to this clause is made by the Guest (s) when booking Mathea House.
PAYMENTS TO BE MADE VIA BANK TRANSFER (credit card/debit card facilities unavailable at present)
When a direct booking is made an NZ Tax Invoice will be issued and payment is to be made on receipt of the invoice on the following terms.
A deposit of 20% of the total cost of accommodation is required to secure the booking. This deposit once paid is non-refundable. Bookings are confirmed upon receipt of deposit. The remaining balance to be paid one calendar month prior to the Guest (s) arrival.
If the booking is within a calendar month, full payment is to be made on receipt of a tax invoice which includes payment details.
Booking confirmation to be made on the receipt of payment. If payment is not received within 3 days we will confirm cancellation of the booking.
A 2.75% credit card surcharge will apply for any bookings paid for via credit card (facility not currently available)
TRAVEL RESTRICTED BY FORCE MAJEURE
In the event of unforeseen events requiring the cancellation of accommodation a credit that can be used towards a future booking to be taken within a twelve month period will be offered or depending on the circumstances a full or partial refund of payments received maybe offered by Mathea House.
PROPERTY DETAILS

- Mathea House is fully furnished
- All linen & towels are included including beach towels
- Mid stay linen change & rubbish disposal is available by request
- A port-a-cot is available on request however no linen or blankets will be provided with the port-a-cot; Please note that there are no gates to the stairway
- Where possible we will accommodate early check in time requests
BARBAQUES
No BBQ is available at Mathea House
CLEANING
Guests are expected to carry out the following before checking out:
- Leave the property tidy,
- All surfaces wiped down
- Dishes loaded into the dishwasher & turned on
- Sheets & pillow cases to be removed from the beds and left on the floor of the bedroom
- Towels, face cloths, hand towels, bath mats to be left on the floor of the bathroom
- Air conditions to be turned off
- All windows & doors closed & locked
- Report any breakages, damage or maintenance issues
- Rubbish to be put in the external black rubbish bins - general rubbish & recycling
- Excessive rubbish (in excess of the 2 rubbish bins) will be charged for disposal @ $10.00 per black rubbish bag (black bags found in the kitchen drawer)
OCCUPANCY
- Maximum number of guests for Mathea House is Four (4)
- Minimum bookings are for three (3) nights
- Pitching tents is not permitted
- In the unlikely event that additional guests are found to be staying Mathea House reserves the right to evict the guests including the Guest(s) who booked initially
AGE RESTRICTIONS
- Mathea House is available for booking by guests over the age of 20 years old only.
- Proof of age may be requested
- Refer to Cancellations by Mathea House above which may come into force if this clause on age restrictions is not met.
PETS
- Mathea House has a policy of no pets allowed
SMOKING /VAPING
Smoking and vaping are prohibited in Mathea House including the deck/balcony and patio.
GATHERINGS & NOISE
- Parties, large gatherings, including 21st birthday parties, Hen & stag nights are not allowed.
- Quiet hours at 11pm - 7am each day
- Any complaints received where a call out is required the Guest(s) will be charged $100.00 and this may result in a cancellation of the booking
- Mathea House is not to be used for large gatherings
DAMAGE
The Guest(s) are liable for any damages to any property or content of the property incurred during their stay. Please inspect the property and report any damage immediately to the office upon arrival. Guest(s) stay at their own risk and Mathea House will not be held liable for damage or injury caused to Guest(s) or their personal property when circumstances arise outside of the control of Mathea House including weather events or force majeure. Notification to Sue Cunningham 027 698 7055 to be made asap.
The Guest(s) will not be held liable for damage to Mathea House caused by weather events or force majeure.
HOME MANAGEMENT
- Check -in time - 3pm (we maybe able to accommodate early if needed)
- Access is via a code to the front door (a back up system is available if required)
- Check out time - 10am
- Rubbish to be put in the external black rubbish bins - general rubbish & recycling excessive rubbish (in excess of the 2 rubbish bins) will be charged for disposal @ $10.00 per black rubbish bag (black bags found in the kitchen drawer)
- Lost Property - if we find items left by Guest(s) we will notify you to discuss if you want it to be returned.
- Mathea House takes no responsibility for any items lost or left behind by Guest(s)
